About
Ken Campbell
Chief Instructor

I began Judo training in Scotland 1952 -1959 Zoshikan, Edinburgh, Scotland, under Master John Kerr and Karate training in Scotland 1965 – 1979 Leith Community Centre, under Sensei Jimmy Pace.
I initiated my first club in Livingstone, Scotland, 1974 – 1979, Sensei Donald Fullerton.
To Date I have initiated/taught Shukokai and associated Chinese internal arts (Taiji/qigong) over the last 5 decades in many countries within Europe and further afield:
Scotland/England/Germany/Denmark/Mauritius/Canada
I have also been privileged and honoured over the last 50+ years to have trained with many of the great masters and originators within the world of Japanese and Chinese martial arts, many of whom are now long time personal friends:
Master Tani (originator of Shukokai)
Sifu Lin Williams Kent England
Master Yoshiro Suzuki (Chief Instructor for Master Tani)
Sifu Dr Howard Hao Beijing University
Master Keiji Tomiyama (Chief Instructor Kofukan)
Master Nanbu (founder of Nanbudo)
and many others who helped me on my journey, too numerous to detail on this short profile.
The first time I can recall hearing the words Taiji, was in a conversation with a work colleague in Edinburgh back in the early 60’s. He is now Sifu (Ian Cameron). He had been studying karate, and mentioned Taiji, it was early days in martial arts in UK, and even then, the esoteric wonders of the Japanese and Chinese martial arts were rife. Since then I have integrated Taiji principles into my Karate, and learned various forms including qigong elements, from various teachers within UK EMEA and China, during my world travels.
Currently I am writing a book on the physiological and phycological benefits of Taiji, with a member of the Beijing University team, Dr Howard Hao, whom over the years has become a good friend and colleague. Howard is also a renowned Chinese Taiji Teacher.
I have a good student base here in Doncaster and have taught in the local hospitals to the nursing staff and patients within the forensic unit in RDASH.
I am currently working with the local council, as part of the project LGA (Let’s get Active) Doncaster, which is helping the community, and from my point of view helping us to propagate the goodness of Taiji in everyday life for all.
We are also preparing for the 28 April WTCQD (World Taiji Qigong Day) and spreading the word on the benefits of taichi.
